COTANCE secretary general gives Wilson memorial lecture

The secretary general of the leather industry’s representative body in the European Union, Gustavo Gonzalez-Quijano, gave the sixtieth John Arthur Wilson memorial lecture at the 2019 annual convention of the American Leather Chemists’ Association (ALCA).

Speaking on the subject of ‘A future for leather’, Mr Gonzalez-Quijano, gave the address at the start of the convention, which this year took place at the Mission Inn resort and club at Howey-In-The-Hills, near Orlando, Florida.

He focused on steps that the global leather industry needs to take to be able to face the future with confidence. He said the four main areas in which action is needed are authenticity and leather’s identity, education and training, accurate presentation of leather’s environmental footprint and fairer trading conditions for leather and raw materials.
