ISA TanTec announces acquisition of Auburn Leather

Specialist leather laces manufacturer Auburn Leather is to be acquired by larger leather manufacturing group ISA TanTec and move its production from Auburn, Kentucky, to ISA TanTec’s facilities.

ISA TanTec announced on March 1 that it has reached an agreement with Auburn Leather to complete the acquisition in the course of the second quarter of this year. It said key members of the Auburn team, including company president, Lisa Howlett, will transfer to ISA TanTec as part of the deal to help continue the “high quality, character and consistency” of the leather laces Auburn produces.

She will help integrate Auburn Leather into the ISA TanTec group and act as an ambassador for the Auburn brand.

Ms Howlett, who is also the chair of industry body Leather Industries of America, has been an outspoken champion of the leather industry in the United States. She has also spoken frequently of her pride in the company her family set up in Kentucky in 1863 and will be pleased to have found a way to take the Auburn name and its specialist products forward.

“Auburn laces will be manufactured in ISA TanTec’s facilities using the same proprietary processes,
hides, chemicals and equipment to ensure the authenticity and uniqueness of Auburn’s leather
laces continue for customers,” ISA TanTec said.
