Deichmann purchases ‘Elefanten’ trademark from Clarks
Subject to approval from the Monopolies Commission, German footwear retailer,
Deichmann Group will take over the international rights to the ‘Elefanten’ brand of children’s shoes, on June 1. The brand was previously owned by C&J Clarks Ltd.
Clarks announced the closure of the brand in July 2004 after no suitable investor could be found for the struggling brand. The trademark was offered for sale at the end of 2004 when business ceased completely.
"We are very pleased to continue the brand 'Elefanten' on the market", said Heinrich Deichmann, CEO of Deichmann on the announcement of the agreement.
