Weight-loss drugs boost demand for leathergoods repairs
A surge in demand for belt alterations in the UK and US is providing additional business for repair services as consumers taking weight-loss drugs adapt existing leather goods to changing body sizes.
UK footwear and key-cutting retailer Timpson has reported a 680% increase in requests for extra belt holes this year, according to chief executive James Timpson, who attributed the rise to the growing popularity of weight-loss medications. The company provides the service free, inviting customers to make a charitable donation.
