Gucci defeats Agfa in leather printing patent dispute
The Unified Patent Court (UPC) Court of Appeal has revoked most of Agfa’s patent claims covering a method of decorating leather using inkjet printing, while confirming that Gucci did not infringe the remaining claims.
The court found that Gucci’s Flora leather products, including a wallet sold before Agfa filed its patent application in April 2017, had already disclosed the method. It therefore revoked several claims in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Sweden.
