PrimeAsia links supply-chain data to security of supply

Leather manufacturing group PrimeAsia has linked better supply-chain data and traceability with the long-term resilience and security of supply for the leather industry.

The company's chief sustainability officer, Camille Mori, discussed the role of supply-chain data in identifying risk, coordinating action and building resilience during a panel at NYC Climate Week.

PrimeAsia said the discussion was particularly relevant to its approach to security of supply because leather's raw material supply chain begins with agriculture. Greater visibility of where raw materials originate can help the company and its partners identify risks and opportunities, it said.

The company also stressed the need for collaboration to turn supply-chain data into action, with discussions during Climate Week involving participants from the food, apparel and leather industries and organisations working on traceability, decarbonisation and deforestation-free supply chains.

The focus is consistent with PrimeAsia's existing traceability programme. In its 2025 sustainability reporting, the company said it was targeting 100% traceability to the birth farm or group of birth farms for hides processed, but had reached 17% of the target by the end of 2025.
