Kazakhstan leather output rises 36%

Kazakhstan’s leather and related products sector recorded a 36% year-on-year increase in production during the first five months of 2026, according to the Ministry of Industry and Construction.

The ministry said output of travel accessories and saddlery grew by 47.6%, footwear production increased by 39.9% and tanning, leather dressing and fur dyeing rose by 27.3%.

The largest production volumes came from Almaty region, Almaty city and Zhambyl region. Almaty region led the sector with production worth US$4.7 million, accounting for 35% of total industry output. Almaty city followed with US$1.9 million, while Zhambyl region produced US$1.5 million, representing 11% of the total.
