Industry figures and EU officials to share a platform at Porto shoe event
Figures from across the European footwear industry and from the European Commission will take part in an event on the future of the footwear sector. It will take place in Porto on November 18 and 19.
Industry figures who will take part will include the president of the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC), Sergio Dulio, chief executive of footwear technology provider Desma, Christian Decker, and the president of host footwear industry Apiccaps, Luís Onofre.
Participants representing the European Commission will include the head of its official representation in Portugal, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, and its director-general for industry, the internal market, entrepreneurship and small and medium businesses, Kerstin Jorna.
As well as conference sessions, the event will include a number of factory visits hosted by footwear manufacturers in the Porto region.
President of the European footwear industry confederation (CEC), Rosana Perán, will formally close the event at the end of the second day.
