“Crafts are an essential part of our culture and keeping traditional leather-working skills alive is incredibly important to us,” they said.
Each of the makers has been given a limited amount of deer leather to make as many of their ‘hero’ products as possible and challenged to minimise offcuts by developing a second product, such as a keyring or a leather sculpture.
Billy Tannery said: “Although venison is growing in popularity, deerskins remain a shockingly under-utilised source for leather in this country and most go to waste. Deer leather combines both softness with durability and strength and it's prized by many European luxury brands.”
The range of limited edition products will be available to pre-order from March 15. Billy Tannery will be sharing updates on the project through its social media and website.
