Arzignano’s Green Leather Managers course keeps producing
Tanning cluster Il Distretto Veneto della Pelle has welcomed a new cohort of Green Leather Managers following a graduation ceremony in Arzignano in late July.
In total, 18 young people completed the course this year, two of whom have been awarded prizes for the quality of their work by tanning technology developer Cartigliano.
Green Leather Manager is a two-year course that launched in 2017 and now forms part of Italy’s specialist technical institutions (ITS) programme, which students can join after completing high school. It combines classroom and workplace learning, which many leather manufacturing companies and their suppliers in Veneto have supported.
Dedicated institution ITS Cosmo Fashion Academy runs the course at its Arzignano campus. The latest cohort also received particular support from Acque del Chiampo, the company that runs the wastewater treatment plant that serves the Veneto tanning cluster.
The course’s aim is to develop a new, sustainability-focused generation of tanning industry managers. Employment rates among its graduates is above 90%.
