Successful US bid for famous French brand
Reports from France say California-based footwear group Titan Industries has had a bid accepted for famous French footwear brand Clergerie.
Clergerie went into administration in March. On June 29, a court in Paris approved the brand’s acquisition by Titan Industries.
Details of the bid that media in France have reported include a price of €700,000 and the promise that the Clergerie workshop in Romans-sur-Isère and a number of own-brand boutiques in France will remain open.
On the other hand, though, Titan Industries has said it will make 55% of Clergerie redundant within one month; this measure will affect 79 people.
