Brazil footwear imports still dominated by Asia
Figures for the first 11 months of this year show that Brazilian companies imported 23.6 million pairs of shoes with a value of $333 million. These figures represent a fall of almost 10% in volume and of 3.5% in value.
Main origins were China, with 9.6 million pairs and a value of $45.8 million, increases of 15.7 % and 43%. Next came Vietnam with 7.3 million pairs and a value of $156.4 million, increases of 1.2% and 10.6%, respectively.
Over the 11-month period manufacturers in Indonesia shipped 2.8 million pairs of shoes to Brazil with a value of $56.2 million, up by 20.4% and 26.7%.
