Chinese influencer Mr Bags picks his January top 30 bags
Popular Chinese fashion blogger Mr Bags (real name Tao Liang), who boasts over 7 million followers, recently released his “30 most desirable designer handbags” list for January 2021, covering the Chinese market.
Mr Bags has been specialising in acting as something of a bridge between particularly European luxury brands and his loyal Chinese “bagfans”, as he calls his readers, since 2011.
This has led to collaborations with Burberry, Tod’s, Givenchy, Chloé and Longchamp, among others, which typically sell out within minutes of launching online (a collaboration with Burberry over summer 2020 sold out within 60 seconds, for example). One of the bags he designed for Tod’s, a limited-edition D-Styling bag (pictured being held by Mr Bags), is currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Mr Bags’ first top 10 of 2021 is as follows (in descending order):
10. Saint Laurent Niki
9. Fendi Baguette
8. Gucci 1955 Horsebit
7. Dior Saddle
6. Dior Book Tote
5. Celine Cabas in Triomphe canvas
4. Prada Cleo
3. Chanel Flap with adjustable chain
2. Hermès Lindy (mini)
1. Chanel 19
Louis Vuitton (number 11) just missed out on the top 10 with its Noe style, while the Hourglass bag by Balenciaga (number 17) was the first entry into the top 30 for the Demna Gvasalia-directed brand.
Bottega Veneta’s Jodie bag was ranked in twenty-fourth place and Burberry just made the top 30 with its Olympia handbag (number 29).
