Winners of China Leather Artisan Encouragement Fund announced
Ten winners of the third China Leather Artisan Encouragement Fund have been announced by the China Leather Industry Association, with five graduates of Qiqihar University in Heilongjiang province dominating the line-up.
Three graduates of Xi’an’s Shaanxi University of Science and Technology also made the cut, in addition to one graduate apiece from Jiaxing University (Zhejiang province) and Chengdu’s Sichuan University. Companies represented by the ten winners include ECCO (Xiamen), a tannery which supplies the eponymous Danish shoe brand, as well as automotive leather companies in south-eastern Fujian and Guangdong, among others.
The fund aims to promote the sustainable development of the Chinese leather industry, highlighting and encouraging outstanding craftsmanship in the field. It was instigated by Sichuan University of Science and Engineering and Xuzhou Hongfeng Polymer Materials of Hunan province, with support from the Beijing-based China Leather Industry Association.
