Prada tightens wholesale network to protect prices

23/05/2019
Italian luxury group Prada has indicated that it will reduce the number of wholesale partners it has in Italy and Europe in order to ensure more uniform prices for its products.

In March, the company said it would stop running end-of-season promotions at its own stores in order to protect the Prada brand and to boost its margins. It now plans to replace some wholesale partners with new digital ones.

It described this decision as “essential to ensure greater consistency in pricing policies” and said it will help the group achieve “sustainable long-term growth”.

Its leathergoods offering is expected to be impacted by this change in strategy.
