Stahl launches PFC-free water-repellent solution for leather

Leather chemicals producer Stahl has introduced a new portfolio of water-repellent solutions as part of its Neo leather finish portfolio.

These new solutions are free from perfluorocarbons and benzene toluene xylene (BTX) and were launched officially at the 2017 All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai on August 30.

Chief executive, Huub van Beijeren, said offering an alternative to perfluorocarbons, some of which have been linked to health and environmental concerns, indicated “another step towards a more sustainable leather industry”.

He added: “We support brands that aim to ban hazardous substances from their products. We are proud to introduce our new line of water-repellent solutions for leather.”
