The mayor of the Belarusian city of Grodno has asked that Indian companies invest in upgrading a tannery in the city, as it exports wet blue to the country.

Mayor Andrei Khudyk met with Ambassador of India to Belarus, Manoj Kumar Bharti, to discuss the plan and to suggest a joint business forum, according to local reports.

The Grodno Leather Factory tannery exported $1.6 million of wet blue from January to October 2013.
The Grodno Oblast region imported finished leather worth $700,000 for its glove factory and footwear factories in Lida and Grodno. The mayor has also asked that Indians invest in energy saving projects.
