Sales of cured cattle hides for the period ending November 12 were of 273,300 pieces, a decline of 29% compared to the week before. In contrast, the volume of wet blue hides sold was noticeably up on the previous week, with a figure of 82,000, an increase of more than 250%.
The most recent steer hide prices ranged from $44 for a heavy native steer hide weighing a minimum of 76 pounds, to $33 for a butt-branded steer hide weighing 64-66 pounds. For cow hides, prices were $20 or $21 for hides weighing 50 to 52 pounds.
