Painful first four months for France’s finished leather exports
                        France exported finished leather worth €62.6 million in the first four months of 2020, a decline of 40% year on year.
Figures published by industry body the Conseil National du Cuir show that cattle hides brought in export revenues of €22.6 million, while shipments of calfskins generated €14.9 million. Sheepskin leather earned €11.7 million, while the figure for exotic leather was €4.7 million.
Each category registered a fall in revenues year on year. There were declines of 24% for cattle hides, 35% for calfskins, 36% for sheepskin and 48% for exotics.
