New Florence headquarters for LVMH training initiative

28/11/2017
Following on from the announcement in July that it would expand its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME) initiative to Italy, luxury group LVMH has officially opened a new headquarters for the programme in Florence.

It is located in the Maison Emilio Pucci, home of the Italian fashion brand which has been part of the LVMH portfolio since 2000.

The Institut des Métiers d’Excellence was established by the luxury group in 2014. It aims to pass on savoir-faire and artisan skills in leathergoods and other disciplines to a new generation of craftspeople.

After being successfully developed in France, LVMH has extended it to Switzerland and now to Italy. It has partnered with Florence-based fashion and design school Polimoda to offer training to young Italians interested in training to become leathergoods artisans.

The inauguration of the new base in Florence, which took place on November 27, coincided with the beginning of the academic year for the first intake of Italian apprentices into the programme.

As well as the leathergoods course offered in partnership with Polimoda, there is a course dedicated to jewellery. LVMH plans to add programmes focusing on retail and shoes in 2018.
