Lineapelle closes its autumn 2017 edition

The ninety-third edition of the Lineapelle exhibition closed in Milan on October 6. With visitor numbers still to be processed (and possibly facing the effects of a public transport strike on the last day, after halls looked busy at the start of the show), main organiser, Italian tanning industry association UNIC, said it was pleased with how the event had gone.

Exhibitor numbers of 1,285 companies represented an increase of 3.5% compared to the September 2016 edition of Lineapelle and of 7% compared to February 2017. These companies took up 47,500 metres of exhibition space, also an increase of 3.5% compared to September 2016. A total of 48 countries were represented, which was four more than a year ago.

UNIC said the exhibition has received a boost from the work it has done to establish international preview events, Lineapelle New York and Lineapelle London, encouraging design and fashion professionals in those cities to see elements of the larger leather collections that will be on show in Milan.

It also said that the success of the event is a reflection of “signs of a promising recovery at a global level” in the leather market.
