Tuscan teenagers to visit Lineapelle

09/02/2017
Italy’s main tanning industry association, UNIC, has invited 600 high-school students from Tuscany to Milan for the third day of the next edition of Lineapelle to reinforce work the teenagers have done to develop knowledge and appreciation of the leather manufacturing process.

Since 2010, young people in schools around the Tuscan tanning cluster of Santa Croce and Ponte a Egola have been taking part in a project called Amici Per La Pelle (Friends For Leather),which involves visiting local tanneries, learning about the processes involved in producing leather and then using the material to make their own leathergoods.

This year, UNIC has invited students and teachers that have taken part in the exercise to visit Lineapelle to deepen further their knowledge of the industry. On Thursday, February 23, 12 bus-loads of Tuscan tenneagers will travel to Milan to visit the exhibition.
