BSE found in Canada

Officials in Canada have confirmed a case of BSE, but experts say that despite an initial wobble, cattle markets have not been affected.

The case, which did not enter the food chain, is the country’s first since 2011 but is reported to be no danger to humans.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said: "The CFIA is seeking to confirm the age of the animal, its history and how it became infected. The investigation will focus in on the feed supplied to this animal during the first year of its life.”

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is also known as Mad Cow Disease.
