More tannery closures in Hebei

27/05/2014
Tanneries in the Xinji leather zone in China’s Hebei province have become the latest to fall foul of the government’s new environmental controls, with work suspended there as of the end of last week.

A report on the China Leather Industry Association’s website said the city’s deputy mayor issued a report on May 21 stating that tanneries that failed an inspection were to close immediately.

It is unclear if or when they will be able to resume work.
